4th graders draw arrays in their math journals to show order of
operations.  They remember to complete the operation inside the
parenthesis first. What would you do first in 54 - (4 x 7)? You would
multiply 4 x 7 first which is 28. Then, continue on with 54 - 28. What
is your final answer?

Red Ribbon Week
We celebrated Red Ribbon Week October 26th-October
30th.  The student council organized different activities.  The
students had an opportunity to participate in a writing contest
.  The winners of the writing contest were 2nd grader
Paulette Miranda, 3rd grader Genesis Acevedo, 4th grader
Ashley Chavaria, and 5th grader Jasmine Banda.
This student thought about how many legs
are on 4 grasshoppers. Do you know how
many legs are on 7 grasshoppers? How could
you find out?
This 2nd grader works on her first draft.  2nd and
3rd graders focus heavily on  the writing process.
Do you know the writing process stages? They are
pre-write, first draft, revising, proof-reading and
publishing.
